Vacancy: Industry Territory Manager
Area: Sales and Marketing Americas
JOB PURPOSE: To increase share of industry customer spend on Caterpillar paving products and services. Drive increased customer loyalty throughout the paving industry. This position covers a broad geographic territory (Latin America) with responsibility for a team dispersed across the region. Requires the capability to work autonomously. This diverse region includes responsibility for sales in multiple countries, multiple currencies, and multiple languages. Develops new opportunities in complex markets and closes misalignment gaps with local dealers to grow the paving business; significant independent accountability for a large and diverse number of dealers (sales execution and technical support decision). Works closely with the Product Group to develop solutions for unmet customer needs.
JOB DUTIES: The Industry Territory Manager at this level operates with a high level of autonomy and independence and is responsible for the sale of paving machines and parts. Leads a team comprised of sales, technical support, application experts, and product support field personnel to achieve goals.
- Meet/Exceed Business Plan Sales and share (PINS) targets for all machines and work tools sold into the paving industry.
- Responsible for “selling the house” (integrated solutions) and assist in marketing dealer service
- Manages Merchandising Funds for Paving products. Responsible for Price Realization for these products.
- Develop Marketing Plans to Achieve BP
- Oversee service goodwill spending on all products within industry segment
- Ensure customer satisfaction through management of product and commercial issues
- Leads service tech reps for focus on quality to achieve key metrics related to Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and service capability.
- Responsible for leadership and supervision of the industry field reps, typically consisting of sales, application, service and/or product support.
- Report on competitive activities including machine pricing (Lost Sales Reporting).
- Develop relevant reports on trends required to support necessary Business Reviews.
- Training and development of the district sales and service staff; sets objectives, establishes standards of performance and evaluates district staff performance; sales forecasts, objectives, work plans, and budgets
Basic Qualifications:
Education: College or university degree
Experience: The position requires thorough knowledge of company products and product applications, merchandising programs, and/or warranty practices and procedures. Broad company knowledge and strong understanding of dealers as well as customers is also required.
Language: English and Spanish level advanced
Behavioral skills: Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific action.
Travel: Significant travel of up to 75% is required
